Sudan faces severe education rebuilding hurdle despite school resumption

KE-CH Free to watch 2026

Sudan is taking steps to rebuild its education system as schools and universities resume classes in parts of the country following signs of improved security in central and eastern regions. The conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces, which began in April 2023, has forced widespread school closures, damaged educational infrastructure and disrupted learning for millions of children and young people. Despite the reopening of some institutions, Sudan faces major obstacles, including damaged classrooms, limited funding, teacher shortages and the displacement of students and families. Some universities have relocated from conflict zones to safer areas to continue teaching, while many children remain unable to return to school. With around 34 million people reportedly needing humanitarian assistance, rebuilding education remains a critical part of Sudan’s recovery from one of the world’s largest humanitarian crises. #Sudan #SudanWar #EducationCrisis #SudanConflict #EducationInAfrica #HumanitarianCrisis #SudaneseStudents #AfricanNews #RebuildingSudan
