Emission cuts show progress but fall short of climate goals: UN report

KE-CH Free to watch 2026

A new United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) report finds that renewable energy and stronger climate policies have helped reduce greenhouse gas emissions across dozens of countries. Solar and wind power alone prevented an estimated 4.1 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions in 2025, while China’s industrial decarbonization efforts have helped slow emissions growth. Despite this progress, the Emissions Gap Report 2026 warns that current climate action remains insufficient to meet the Paris Agreement’s temperature goals. Under existing policies, global warming could reach 2.8°C above pre-industrial levels by the end of the century. The report urges countries to accelerate emission cuts, strengthen climate commitments and expand clean energy to limit future warming. #ClimateChange #UNEP #EmissionsGapReport2026 #RenewableEnergy #GlobalWarming #ParisAgreement #ClimateAction #SolarEnergy #WindEnergy #China
