Iran's IRGC says it shoots down U.S. MQ-9 drone east of Hormuz Strait

Published 03 November 2026

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says its air defence systems shot down and destroyed a U.S. MQ-9 drone east of the Strait of Hormuz. The announcement, made on Monday evening, also claimed that two U.S. MQM-170 reconnaissance drones were brought down over Qeshm Island in southern Iran. The reported incidents add to tensions surrounding the strategically important Strait of Hormuz and raise questions about military activity in the region. The claims have been attributed to the IRGC; independent confirmation was not included in the announcement. #Iran #IRGC #USDrones #MQ9Reaper #MQM170 #StraitOfHormuz #QeshmIsland #IranUSRelations #IranMilitary #USMilitary #DroneShootdown #MiddleEastTensions #IranNews #MilitaryNews #Geopolitics
