Russia, Ukraine trade fresh strikes as Kiev runs short of interceptor missiles
Published 16 October 2026
Russia and Ukraine have reported fresh military strikes, with Moscow claiming the capture of two settlements in the Kharkiv region and Kyiv saying its forces struck six Russian Su-34M warplanes. The competing claims come amid continued attacks on military facilities, drone sites and infrastructure. Ukraine has also reportedly exhausted its stock of interceptor missiles for its U.S.-supplied Patriot air defence system, while Russian strikes have damaged energy infrastructure. During talks with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Brussels, President Volodymyr Zelensky called for additional air defence equipment and F-16 ammunition. #RussiaUkraineWar #Ukraine #Russia #Zelensky #NATO #PatriotMissiles #MilitaryNews #Geopolitics
